Brandywine, also known as Irene Dank, is an old, very hearty caladium variety that is considered medium in height (1.5 ft). Brandywine caladium bulbs are tropical foliage plants that are easy to grow in landscaping, pots and planters. Brandywine caladiums have large leaves with a deep red center, red veins and minimal dark green margins. When planted in the deep shade, the leaves are often more pink colored. These very large deep red leaves are always impressive! They are some of our favorites. Caladium bulbs originated in the Amazon Basin, which is why they require and thrive in the warm summer day and night temperatures. Caladiums are from the Araceae family and mix well with other annuals, Hosta’s, ferns, and foliage.
